What are the global services provided to female victims of sexual assault and how do they contribute to the long term safety and independence of these survivors?

Experiences such sexual abuse these can be socially and emotionally isolating, whether that be due to outside speculation, the abusers, or the women themselves. My goal in researching this topic is to educate myself on this issue that continues to make an appearance in our everyday world and spread that knowledge to those around me, so that we can truly understand the severity of this issue. For my product, I hope to create a writing platform in the form of a website for victims of sexual violence to submit journal entries and receive support and empowerment from women worldwide. I want this website to have a long lasting impact on our current society and establish a collective culture of women who are able to be open about their experiences and provide support for one another.

Daisy Chain (Community-based website)

My mission with the creation of Daisy Chain is, just as the title suggests, to create an interconnected chain of women who are willing and open to share their experiences with sexual abuse and receive a worldwide support system. The purpose of this platform is to provide an outlet for women who at one point in their lives were told that they are deserving of physically and emotionally degrading treatment simply because they are female. For the 16-year-old girl struggling with self-esteem and body image issues. For the 42-year-old woman who finds herself in a relationship where she feels belittled and objectified instead of respected and cherished. And for the child, the little girl within all of us, that craves the human connection one feels when surrounded by those who truly love and appreciate her. That is my sincere hope for each one of my users. And if nothing else, I want this platform to serve as a reminder that you are not alone. Your story. Your narrative. Your voice. Matters.
